Chris was the sickly kid in and out of the hospital. He had polio in the fourth grade and spent three months in the hospital. Thanks to God and a wonderful doctor, he was able to overcome his health problems. His doctor got him into weights and the gym. He answered an ad in the paper to become a professional wrestler. He wrestled for ten years under the name The Saint.

He retired from wrestling at the height of his career to become a minister. After becoming a minister, he began handling some people more as a pro wrestler than as a minister. His book, The Masked Saint, was made into an award-winning movie. He has written two other books.
